Long-term outcomes of robot-assisted surgery in patients with colorectal cancer
Annals of Surgical Oncology Nov 15, 2018
Pinar I, et al. - In patients with colorectal cancer, researchers analyzed the disease-free survival in relation to the two surgical approaches (ie, robot-assisted surgery and conventional laparoscopy), as well as examined all-cause mortality and recurrence-free survival. For this investigation, they included patients, undergoing either laparoscopic or robot-assisted elective, curative-intended surgery for colorectal cancer between January 2010 and December 2015. There was no difference in all-cause mortality and recurrence-free survival. They showed similar rates of disease-free survival, all-cause mortality, and recurrence-free survival in patients with colorectal cancer when comparing robot-assisted surgery with conventional laparoscopy.
