Long-term outcomes of partial prostate treatment with magnetic resonance imaging-guided brachytherapy for patients with favorable-risk prostate cancer
Cancer Jul 11, 2018
King MT, et al. - Researchers assessed the rates of distant metastasis and prostate cancer-specific mortality (PCSM) for patients with National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) intermediate-risk prostate cancer who underwent partial gland treatment with magnetic resonance imaging-guided brachytherapy. Based on the long-term follow-up data in patients with intermediate-risk disease, they noted that partial prostate treatment with brachytherapy may be related to higher rates of distant metastasis and PCSM. For this cohort, it may not be appropriate to treat anything less than the full gland.
