Long-term outcomes of laser prostatectomy for storage symptoms: Comparison of serial 5-year follow-up data between 120W HPS photo-selective vaporization of the prostate and holmium laser enucleation of the prostate
The Journal of Urology Jan 19, 2018
Cho MC, et al. - A comparative scrutiny was carried out of the long-term outcomes of laser prostatectomy for storage symptoms between photoselective laser vaporization of the prostate (PVP)-120W-high performance system (HPS) and holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) in patients with prostatic hyperplasia. In addition, researchers intended to identify factors affecting the postoperative improvement of storage symptoms in the long term. Both PVP-120W-HPS and HoLEP reported the maintenance of improvement of storage symptoms throughout the long-term postoperative period. No variations were discovered between the two surgeries. It was inferred that more severe storage symptoms at baseline and more severe degree of BOOI served as predictors of such an improvement in the long-term after PVP-120W-HPS or HoLEP.
