Long-term outcomes of drug-eluting stent implantation after rotational atherectomy for left main coronary artery bifurcation lesions

The American Journal of Cardiology Mar 14, 2019

Fuku Y, et al. - Using the Assessing Optimal percutaneous coronary Intervention for LMCA (AOI-LMCA) Registry, researchers assessed the clinical outcomes of drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation post-rotational atherectomy (RA) for complex left main coronary artery (LMCA) bifurcation lesions. Crossover stenting with DES for the main vessel was performed in 1,199 patients with LMCA bifurcation lesions. Based on RA use, participants were grouped, and further subgrouping of those in the RA group was done based on the stenting approach. Findings revealed the safety as well as the feasibility of DES implantation after RA in patients with complex LMCA bifurcation lesions. Furthermore, significantly worse 5-year clinical outcomes were seen with the two-stent approach vs the one-stent approach.
