Long-term outcomes of cochlear implantation in patients with high-frequency hearing loss

Roland JT, et al. - This study was conducted to reveal the long-term advantages of implantation in patients with the high-frequency sensorineural hearing loss. In addition, researchers presented the 5-year follow-up of implant recipients who were participants of the Cochlear Nucleus Hybrid L24 Implant System pivotal clinical study. A long-term success of patients with high-frequency hearing loss following Hybrid L24 (Cochlear) cochlear implantation was seen. Speech perception abilities were found to be significantly better than those in the preoperative best-aided condition. The patients using electric-acoustic stimulation in the implanted ear experienced additional benefit.
