Sueyoshi S, Umeno H, Kurita T, et al. - Since fibrotic changes in the vocal fold mucosa have been identified in patients with vocal fold scarring, aged vocal fold, and sulcus vocalis, which often lead to severe voice disorders, researchers, for the first time, examined the long-term efficacy of basic fibroblast growth factor (b FGF) treatment. b FGF injections were conducted in six patients from January of 2016 to December of 2017 at the institution. After the last injection, patient follow-up continued for at least two years. According to results, the speaking F0 had a clear decreasing tendency, with significant differences suggesting an increase in the volume of the vocal folds. b FGF injections may be a reliable treatment choice for diseases that deteriorate the property of vocal fold.
