Long-term outcomes following endovascular and surgical revascularization for peripheral artery disease: A propensity score-matched analysis
European Heart Journal Mar 03, 2021
Parvar SL, Ngo L, Dawson J, et al. - Researchers undertook this retrospective cohort analysis to compare endovascular or open surgical approach for peripheral artery disease (PAD) revascularization, focusing on long-term results. A propensity score-matched analysis was performed to compare procedures. Hybrid interventions were not included. According to findings, experts although reported a comparable long-term risk of major adverse limb events for both approaches, surgical revascularization offered lower long-term mortality as one of the enduring benefits of this procedure. This is at odds with some previous PAD investigations and shows contention in this space.
