Long-term outcomes comparing medical therapy vs revascularization for spontaneous coronary artery dissection: A systematic review and meta-analysis
American Journal of Medicine Apr 01, 2021
Krittanawong C, Nazir S, Virk HH, et al. - Researchers sought to clarify the ideal treatment of spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), and for this purpose, they explored databases to identify all original studies (randomized controlled trials and observational studies) that assessed patients suffering from SCAD. Findings of this meta-analysis of observational studies revealed that SCAD patients managed with medical therapy had no significantly different long-term risk of death, recurrent SCAD, and repeat revascularization when compared with those who underwent invasive therapy. The current expert consensus recommending medical therapy in such cases in the presence of clinical stability and absence of high-risk features, is supported by these data.
