Long-term outcomes and predictive scores for hepatocellular carcinoma and hepatitis B surface antigen seroclearance after hepatitis B e-antigen seroclearance
Hepatology Jun 24, 2018
Fung J, et al. - Researchers assessed the clinical outcomes, factors, and predictive scores for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) seroclearance in a large cohort of subjects undergoing hepatitis B e-antigen (HBeAg) seroclearance (ESC). For this investigation, 723 subjects underwent ESC with a median ESC age of 36 years and follow-up of 18.3 years. Findings revealed that male sex, older age at ESC, alanine aminotransferase, and higher level of HBV DNA were correlated with higher rates of HCC after ESC. The probability of developing HCC and achieving HBsAg seroclearance could be determined by HCC-ESC and HBsAg-ESC predictive scores.
