Long-term outcomes after radiosurgery for temporal bone paragangliomas
American Journal of Clinical Oncology Mar 02, 2018
Scheick SM, et al. - Long-term outcome after stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for temporal bone paragangliomas were reported herein. SRS carried minimal morbidity and was recognized as a safe and efficacious treatment for benign head and neck paragangliomas. Suitability of SRS was demonstrated for patients with skull base tumors <3 cm when fractionated radiotherapy (FRT) was logistically unsuitable. Surgery was reserved for patients in good health whose risk of associated morbidity is low. For asymptomatic patients with a limited life expectancy, observation was considered a reasonable option.
