Long term outcome of second twins born to mothers who attempted vaginal delivery: A retrospective study
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology Sep 02, 2020
Mok SL, et al. - Researchers here examined mortality and long term neurodevelopmental outcomes of the second twins born to mothers who endeavored vaginal delivery. Among 227 retrospectively identified cases of second twin born to mothers who attempted vaginal delivery, adverse composite long term outcomes were reported in 6.6% (15/227). This suggests uncommon encounter to adverse long term outcomes among second twins born to mothers who attempted vaginal delivery. Prematurity and inter-twin delivery interval of more than 30 minutes, but not actual mode of delivery, were observed to be linked with adverse outcomes.
