Long-term outcome of patients operated with pars plana vitrectomy for primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment
Ophthalmic Research Apr 27, 2019
Poulsen CD, et al. - In this prospective, observational 30-month study, authors researched the long-term consequence of subjects operated with pars plana vitrectomy for primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and also to classify the potential predictors for poor visual outcome. In 30 individuals, the macula was attached at primary operation. A good final best corrected visual acuity (BCVA ≤0.3 logMAR, ≥0.5 Snellen) with a better outcome was observed in subjects with the macula attached vs detached. Baseline BCVA >0.3 logMAR, female sex, silicone oil, and larger areas of retinal detachment were the variables correlated with poor visual outcome.
