Long-term outcome of hip arthroplasty in the setting of pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS)
Journal of Arthroplasty Jan 05, 2018
Tibbo ME, et al. - The outcomes of total hip arthroplasty (THA) in the setting of pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS) were determined in this study. Improved patient function with a low rate of local recurrence was reported as the outcome of THA in the setting of PVNS. High complication and revision rates reported in this series were likely attributable to the young and active patient population and the use of conventional polyethylene. Furthermore, it was noted that modern bearings theoretically attenuated the risk of revision.
