Long-term outcome of coronary artery dilatation in Kawasaki disease

The Annals of Pediatric Cardiology May 11, 2018

Advani N, et al. - In this retrospective cohort study with midterm follow-up data, the course and outcome of coronary artery dilatation were investigated in patients with Kawasaki disease (KD), as well as if there are any differences in the outcomes in the different branches. Statistical analysis was performed using Kaplan–Meier curve. Within 2 years, regression of the majority (77.4%) of small- and medium-sized dilatations was reported, however, giant aneurysms showed a tendency to persist. The diameter, and not the location, was found to be determinative of the outcome of coronary dilatation. Smaller dilatations showed faster regression rate. Dilatation most frequently involved the left main coronary artery.
