Long-term efficacy of safinamide on Parkinson's disease chronic pain

Cattaneo C, et al. - The purpose herein was to gauge the long-term (2-year) efficacy of safinamide on Parkinson’s disease (PD) chronic pain. Researchers also aspired to affirm the observed positive effects following 6 months of treatment. It was discovered that safinamide markedly improved the Parkinson’s disease quality of life questionnaire (PDQ-39) items 37 ('painful cramps or spasm') and 39 ('unpleasantly hot or cold,') and substantially reduced the number of concomitant pain treatments. Findings unveiled the long-term maintenance of the positive effects of safinamide on PD chronic pain
