Long-term efficacy of endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation in the management of glaucoma following cataract surgery in children
Journal of AAPOS May 02, 2018
Cantor AJ, et al. - Researchers sought to report the long-term effectiveness of endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation (ECP) in pediatric glaucoma after cataract surgery (GFCS). They defined the treatment failure as consecutive postoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) of >24 mm Hg, alternative glaucoma procedure following ECP, or occurrence of visually significant complications. From baseline to final follow-up, preserved visual acuity was demonstrated by patients with single ECP. Findings with an average follow-up period of 7.2 years suggested that in the treatment of pediatric GFCS, ECP was useful. Experts noted the success rate to be 54%.
