Long-term effects of growth hormone replacement therapy in childhood-onset craniopharyngioma: Results of the German Craniopharyngioma Registry (HIT-Endo)
European Journal of Endocrinology Aug 29, 2018
Boekhoff S, et al. - In this cross-sectional study, researchers intended to determine the long-term impacts of growth hormone (GH) replacement therapy in childhood-onset craniopharyngioma (CP). Findings revealed that GH substitution was safe regarding the risk of tumor progression/relapse in CP. It was noted that growth was improved by GH. However, development of obesity was not impacted by GH substitution. Results of this study suggested that early initiation of GH substitution after CP diagnosis could have beneficial impacts on weight development and neuropsychological outcome.
