Long-term comparison of robotic and laparoscopic gastrectomy for gastric cancer: A propensity score-weighted analysis of 2,084 consecutive patients
Annals of Surgery Jun 16, 2021
Shin HJ, Son SY, Wang B, et al. - Researchers aimed at comparing long-term outcomes between robotic and LG approaches among patients (n = 2,084) with GC stages I-III using propensity score weighting based on a generalized boosted method to control for selection bias. The population was balanced after propensity score weighting. Outcomes revealed reduced blood loss (16 mL less), and sufficient lymph node harvest from the initial period among patients who underwent RG with no changes in surgical outcomes over time. Hence, RG for GC resulted in reliable surgical outcomes from the beginning with similar long-term survival to that following LG.
