Long-term cognitive impairment after hospitalization for community-acquired pneumonia: A prospective cohort study

Girard TD, et al. - This trial entailed the characterization of the long-term cognitive impairment among hospitalized adults of all ages with community-acquired pneumonia. Data disclosed that one-third of patients ≥ 65 years old and 20% of younger patients presented with moderate-to-severe impairment in multiple cognitive domains a year after hospitalization for community-acquired pneumonia. In addition, another third of survivors displayed mild cognitive impairment.
