Long-term (10-year) outcomes of stenting or bypass surgery for acute coronary syndromes and stable ischemic heart disease with unprotected left main coronary artery disease
American Heart Journal Nov 02, 2019
Park S, Ahn JM, Lee K, et al. - Researchers assessed the interaction between acuity of clinical presentation (acute coronary syndromes [ACS] or non-ACS) and revascularization strategy on 10-year results in patients (n = 2,240) with left main coronary artery (LMCA) disease managed with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) (n = 1,102) or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) (n = 1,138) in the MAIN-COMPARE study. A composite of all-cause mortality, Q-wave myocardial infarction, or stroke was considered as the primary outcome. All-cause mortality or target vessel revascularization were assessed as secondary outcomes. Findings revealed no significant interaction between the acuity of clinical presentation and the relative treatment influence of PCI vs CABG on 10-year clinical results in patients with LMCA disease.
