Long‐term outcome after deferred revascularization due to negative fractional flow reserve in intermediate coronary lesions

Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Feb 19, 2021

Weerts J, Pustjens T, Amin E, et al. - Researchers investigated a real‐world patient population to determine long‐term results after deferring intervention of coronary lesions with a fractional flow reserve (FFR) value of > 0.80, and explored factors related to deferred target lesion failure (DTLF). In this retrospective study, patients (n = 600) with deferred coronary intervention on the basis of FFR value > 0.80 were included. In 44 (7.3%), 42 (7%), and 2 patients (0.3%), the occurrence of DTLF, revascularization, and acute coronary syndrome without revascularization was reported, respectively. In this study, the identified long‐term rate of DTLF of initially deferred coronary lesions was 7.3%. Lower deferred FFR value, the presence of multivessel disease, distal lesions, and lesions in saphenous vein graft were documented as independent predictors for DTLF.
