Long‐term follow‐up of percutaneous coronary intervention vs coronary artery bypass grafting in left main coronary artery disease: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Oct 29, 2020
Garg A, Rout A, Raheja H, et al. - By analyzing five randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with 4,499 patients, researchers assessed the long‐term results of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) vs coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in patients experiencing left main coronary artery disease (LMCAD). The included RCTs were identified from MEDLINE and EMBASE databases. All‐cause death, cardiovascular mortality, myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, and repeat revascularization at longest available follow‐up were the endpoints assessed. At long‐term follow‐up, PCI was reported to be related to similar risks of death but a higher risk of repeat revascularization vs CABG in LMCAD. Long‐term risk of MI with PCI vs CABG is required to be further investigated in future research.
