Teo AR, et al. - Researchers here aim at investigating the degree to which several facets of social connectedness (number of confidants, social support, interpersonal conflict, social norms, and loneliness) are associated with depression-related outcomes. Among military veterans with depression, multiple aspects of social connectedness are associated with depression outcomes. The most important component of connectedness may be loneliness, as it is associated with depression severity, suicidality, and health-related behaviors.
