Locoregional surgical treatment improves the prognosis in primary metastatic breast cancer patients with a single distant metastasis except for brain metastasis

Li X, et al. - By analyzing clinical data obtained from the National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, researchers conducted a population-based retrospective study to validate the clinical significance of locoregional surgery to improve the prognosis of primary metastatic breast cancer (pMBC). According to results, breast surgery reduces mortality risk by more than 40% in patients with MBC. The effect of locoregional surgery in patients with pMBC has been underestimated. Except for brain metastasis, surgical procedures should be taken seriously when planning combination therapies for pMBC patients with a single metastasis.
