Local infiltration analgesia combined with a standardized multimodal approach including an adductor canal block in total knee arthroplasty: A prospective randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blinded clinical trial
Journal of Anesthesia Mar 08, 2018
Tziona D, et al. - Patients who received either local infiltration analgesia (LIA) or saline injections in addition to a standardized multimodal regimen including an adductor canal block while undergoing primary unilateral cemented total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were examined for postoperative pain control. Those who received LIA in addition to a standardized multimodal analgesia regimen had reduced opioid needs and lower resting and dynamic pain intensity scores on the first postoperative day after TKA, suggesting superior pain control with this analgesic strategy.
