Local fibrinolytic therapy for intraventricular hemorrhage: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
World Neurosurgery | Aug 24, 2017
Wang D, et al. – This work was planned to assess the safety and efficacy of intraventricular fibrinolysis (IVF) in intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) patients. In addition, researchers evaluated whether there are differences between rt–PA (recombinant tissue–plasminogen activator) and urokinase according to subgroup analyses. Although the use of IVF in IVH patients seemed generally safe, its benefit appeared limited to a reduction in mortality at the expense of an increased number of survivors with moderately severe to severe disability. Subgroup analyses indicated no advantage of IVF with urokinase over rt–PA.
