LncRNA PCAT18 promotes non-small cell lung cancer progression by sponging miR-4319

Cancer Management and Research May 13, 2021

He L, Wang J, Zhou L, et al. - Researchers examined PCAT18 (a recently identified long non-coding RNA) expression in NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer) tissues as well as in paired adjacent normal lung tissues. They evaluated the biological roles of PCAT18 in NSCLC in vitro and in vivo. To unveil the molecular mechanism of PCAT18 in NSCLC development, experts assessed the link between PCAT18 and miR-4319. They found upregulation of PCAT18 expression in NSCLC tissues as well as cell lines. Furthermore, NSCLC cell proliferation, migration as well as invasion was inhibited by PCAT18 silencing, while reversal of these biological effects was caused by co-transfection with a miR-4319 inhibitor, and miR-4319 resulted in inhibition of NSCLC growth in vivo. Overall, NSCLC development was shown to be promoted by PCAT18 via sponging miR-4319. Experts suggest the likely utility of PCAT18 as an important biomarker for the diagnosis as well as targeted therapy of NSCLC.
