Lipid metabolism, abdominal adiposity, and cerebral health in the amish

Obesity Aug 30, 2017

Ryan M, et al. – This study was undertaken to investigate the correlation between peripheral lipid/fat profiles and cerebral gray matter (GM) and white matter (WM) in healthy Old Order Amish (OOA). The results of this study displayed that peripheral lipid/fat indicators were significantly and negatively correlated with cerebral WM rather than with GM, independent of age and BP level. Moreover, dissecting the fat/lipid components contributing to different brain imaging parameters may open a new understanding of the body–brain connection through lipid metabolism.
