Lingual tonsillectomy in children with Down syndrome: Is it safe?
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Dec 07, 2017
Skirko JR, et al. - This research was initiated in order to gauge the peri-operative course and morbidity in children with Down syndrome (DS) who underwent a lingual tonsillectomy (LT) for residual obstructive sleep apnea (rOSA). A favorable post-operative course was reported by the LT. However, its effectiveness at curing rOSA in the DS cohort remained to be established/proven. In order to identify the optimal surgical management for DS children with LTH, advanced trials were required.
