Lightheadedness after concussion: Not all dizziness is vertigo
Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine May 21, 2018
Heyer GL, et al. - Researchers ascertained the presence and degree of post-concussion lightheadedness vs post-concussion vertigo and dizziness, and determined if lightheadedness impacted duration of symptoms. Findings revealed that all post-concussion dizziness was not vertigo. It was common to have post-concussion lightheadedness and it could influence concussion recovery when present at the time of clinic evaluation. Prolonged concussion recovery was also predicted with female sex, emotional symptoms recalled from the day of concussion, and cephalalgic symptoms reported on the day of clinic evaluation.
