Lifestyle factors during acute Epstein–Barr virus infection in adolescents predict physical activity six months later

Acta Pediatrica Feb 22, 2019

Pedersen M, et al. - In this exploratory study, researchers examined baseline predictors of physical activity six months subsequent to an acute Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection via linear regression analysis. For 149 possible baseline predictors, a total of 200 adolescents (12-20 years old) with acute EBV infection were evaluated and followed prospectively. According to findings, six months after an acute EBV infection in adolescents, baseline physical activity, substance use, and human growth hormone are independent predictors of physical activity, while markers of infection and associated immune response do not appear to be linked to physical activity six months later.
