Lifestyle factors and subjective cognitive impairment in patients seeking help at a memory disorder clinic: The role of negative life events
Dementia and Geriatric Cognitive Disorders Jan 30, 2020
Andersson C, et al. - In this investigation, researchers ascertained if subgroups existed and studied patterns of lifestyle-related variables, including stress, sleep, sensory sensitivity, depression, and negative life events in patients (n = 178; mean age was 58 years) from a University Hospital Memory Disorders Clinic. Subgroups of patients' lifestyles were determined by stress, emotional issues, and age. The groups were significantly linked to Aβ42 and diagnostic outcomes. This pattern can confound the distinction between objective and subjective memory problems. In conjunction with neuropsychological testing, inquiring about lifestyle variables could potentially identify people who are unlikely to have objective memory impairment and guide interventions.
