Lifestyle and pregnancy complications in polycystic ovary syndrome: The SCOPE cohort study
Clinical Endocrinology Apr 04, 2019
Khomami MB, et al. - After considering lifestyle factors, researchers studied the risk of complications of pregnancy in women with and without polycystic ovary syndrome. The research population included 5628 participants in the Screening for Pregnancy Endpoints study in New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom and Ireland were apparently healthy nulliparous women with singleton pregnancies. According to this prospective cohort study, polycystic ovary syndrome was related to a lower risk of large for gestational age infants. Investigators found that women with polycystic ovary syndrome who followed a healthy lifestyle did not increase the risk of pregnancy complications in this low-risk population. Further studies are warranted to assess the contribution of lifestyle factors to the risk of pregnancy complications in women with and without polycystic ovary syndrome at higher risk groups.
