Level of obesity is directly associated with complications following arthroscopic rotator cuff repair

Kashanchi KI, Nazemi AK, Komatsu DE, et al. - Researchers used the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement database (a large national database), to examine the link between rising levels of obesity and postoperative complications within 30 days of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. This study involved 18,521 patients, including 9,548 (51.6%) nonobese, 7,438 (40.2%) obese, and 1,535 (8.3%) morbidly obese. According to the findings of this study, increasing levels of obesity was identified as a risk factor for medical complications, pulmonary complications, as well as for overall complications within 30 days of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.
