Leukotriene E4 induces airflow obstruction and mast cell activation via the CysLT1 receptor
The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology Mar 09, 2018
Lazarinis N, et al. - This study was designed to test the hypothesis that current CysLT1 receptor antagonists may provide incomplete inhibition of CysLT responses. For this purpose, researchers determined the impact of the CysLT1 antagonist montelukast on responses induced by inhalation of leukotriene E4 (LTE4) in asthmatic subjects. They found that via the CysLT1 receptor, leukotriene E4 induced airflow obstruction and mast cell activation.
