Leukocyte telomere length and risk of papillary thyroid carcinoma
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism Mar 06, 2019
Li J, et al. - Since telomere length can contribute to the predisposition of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC), researchers examined the association between leukocyte telomere length and PTC risk in testing this premise. Via conducting a case-control study in a Chinese Han population, they included 1,200 PTC cases and 1,201 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. Findings suggested a significant association of relative telomere length (RTL) with susceptibility of PTC. An obvious reverse U-shape association was found between telomere length and PTC risk. Telomere length could be a potential for biomarkers to identify high-risk individuals for the development of PTC.
