Left main percutaneous coronary intervention—Radial vs femoral access: A systematic analysis
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Aug 28, 2019
Goel S, Pasam RT, Raheja H, et al. - Among patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for left main disease, researchers compared transradial access (TRA) with transfemoral access (TFA) with respect to procedural characteristics and clinical outcomes, via this systematic review and meta-analysis. They identified relevant studies via an electronic database search of all published data. This study included 12 observational studies with 17,258 patients (TRA n = 7,971; TFA n = 9,287). They found that the use of TRA vs TFA for PCI resulted in less bleeding, reduced access site or vascular complications, decreased in-hospital mortality, comparable procedural success, and possibly better long-term clinical efficacy.
