Left atrial pressure pattern without a-wave in sinus rhythm after cardioversion affects the outcomes after catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation
Heart and Vessels Apr 28, 2018
Kishima H, et al. - Given that the a-wave in left atrial pressure (LAP) is often not observed after cardioversion (CV), researchers assessed the effect of “LAP pattern without a-wave” on the outcome in patients (64 males, age 66 ± 8 years, 42 with non-paroxysmal atrial fibrillation [AF]) who underwent catheter ablation (CA) for AF. LAP pattern without a-wave was shown to be only independently related to recurrent AF on multivariate analysis. A higher risk of recurrent AF was observed in patients with LAP pattern without a-wave vs those with a-wave. Overall, recurrence after catheter ablation for AF could be predicted by left atrial pressure pattern without a-wave in sinus rhythm after cardioversion.
