Lean body mass and creatine kinase is associated with reduced inflammation in obesity
European Journal of Clinical Investigation Aug 15, 2017
Bekkelund SI, et al. – In this current study, the physicians examined the associations between lean mass, creatine kinase (CK) and fat mass upon inflammatory parameters in an overweight and obese adult population. They discovered that inflammatory parameters were associated with reduced lean mass and CK in this population. It was hypothesized that lean mass had a favourable effect on obesity–related inflammation, and CK probably plays a role as an inhibitor of inflammation in obesity.
