Lateral retinaculum plasty instead of lateral retinacular release with concomitant medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction can achieve better results for patellar dislocation
Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy Nov 17, 2017
Liu C, et al. - This study was designed to determine the outcomes of lateral retinaculum plasty vs lateral retinacular release with concomitant medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction. Better outcomes were achieved with lateral retinaculum plasty instead of lateral retinacular release with concomitant MPFL. Postoperative restoration of medial and lateral function was observed, in addition to normal patellar tracking. As a novel method, lateral retinaculum plasty reduces the complications of lateral retinacular release for patellar dislocation.
