Late outcomes of valve repair vs replacement in isolated and concomitant tricuspid valve surgery: A nationwide cohort study
Journal of the American Heart Association Apr 24, 2020
Wong WK, Chen SW, Chou AH, et al. - Given an association of surgery for tricuspid valve (TV) diseases with poor prognosis, researchers sought to describe the long‐term outcomes by comparing TV repair and replacement in isolated and concomitant TV surgeries separately. From the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database, they included a total of 2,644 patients who underwent TV repair or replacement surgeries with a mean follow‐up of 4.9 years. Among these, isolated and concomitant TV surgery was performed on 12.6% and 87.4%, respectively. Better short‐ and long‐term outcomes were achieved in both isolated and concomitant TV surgery in correlation with TV repair vs replacement.
