Laparoscopic aortobifemoral bypass in the United States
Journal of Vascular Surgery Aug 11, 2017
Bath J, et al. – In this study, researchers shared their 10–year experience with laparoscopic aortobifemoral bypass (LapABF), evolving from completely laparoscopic to a standardized laparoscopic–assisted approach. As per results, they realized good long–term patency, short length of stay, and minimal morbidity in selected patients. A standardized approach for laparoscopic–assisted ABF seemed a good option for aortoiliac occlusive disease not suitable for endovascular therapy, reducing surgical duration compared with a completely laparoscopic approach. This simplified approach could allow for increased adoption of this technique in the U.S.
