Laparoendoscopic single-site nephrectomy in children: Is it a good alternative to conventional laparoscopic approach
Journal of Pediatric Urology Aug 30, 2017
Castro BA, et al. – Researchers aimed to compare the utility and safety of laparoendoscopic single–site (LESS) against conventional laparoscopic (CL) nephrectomy. It was demonstrated that LESS nephrectomy for benign kidney diseases performed by skilled laparoscopic surgeons is safe and comparable with CL technique in pediatric patients. Nevertheless, while minimally invasive development pushes towards Âa scar–free surgeryÂ, these approaches have been performed in only a few centers in the world. Prospective studies comparing both approaches are necessary to verify the advantages of LESS nephrectomy in children.
