Lack of association between glutathione S‐transferase M1 and T1 gene polymorphisms and susceptibility to preeclampsia: An updated systematic review and meta‐analysis
American Journal of Reproductive Immunology Dec 16, 2020
Jakovljevic TS, Jacimovic J, Nikolic N, et al. - In preeclampsia (PE) development, a contributing role of insufficient response to oxidative stress in placenta has been proposed. Detoxification processes have involvement of glutathione S‐transferases (GST). Researchers conducted a meta‐analysis with the aim to ascertain the impact of GST T1 and GST M1 deletion polymorphism in preeclampsia development. Searching Clarivate Analytics Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, major subject journals, and gray literature, they identified 10 eligible studies for inclusion in this meta‐analysis. Findings overall suggest no correlation between GST M1 and GST T1 deletion polymorphism and PE risk.
