Ketamine therapy combined with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for major depressive disorder at a suburban tertiary clinic

Davila MC, Hess A, Louviere A, et al. - Among patients with MDD, combined repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and ketamine therapy resulted in a significant decrease in depression after 6 weeks of standard therapy.
A retrospective review of medical records of patients with MDD undergoing combined Ketamine and rTMS therapy.
Of 29 patients [N= 17males, N= 12 females] with severe depression, 15 [N= 8 males, N= 7 females] completed 6 weeks of therapy to date.
There occurred reductions in PHQ9 scores by 8.8±6 points to 9.6±7 and in Beck's depression inventory total score from a baseline of 30.3±12 to 18.4±12 at week 6.
