Keloid risk in patients with atopic dermatitis: A nationwide retrospective cohort study in Taiwan
BMJ Open Jul 22, 2018
Lu YY, et al. - The data used in this population-based cohort study was obtained from the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database to assess keloid risk in patients with atopic dermatitis. Eight thousand, three hundred seventy-one patients with newly diagnosed atopic dermatitis during 1996–2010 were identified. Using Cox proportional hazard regression models, the relationship between atopic dermatitis and keloid risk was estimated. The study results showed that patients with atopic dermatitis had a higher than normal risk of developing a keloid. The findings suggested that atopic dermatitis could be an independent risk factor for keloid.
