Isolated nocturnal hypertension is associated with increased left ventricular mass index in children
Pediatric Nephrology Jan 11, 2021
Seeman T, et al. - Researchers used retrospective data to determine if isolated nocturnal hypertension (INH) is related to increased left ventricular mass index (LVMI) and left ventricular hypertrophy among children. Data were analyzed from all untreated children with proven ambulatory hypertension (HT). Experts conducted ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and echocardiography concurrently. Controls in this study were ambulatory normotensive children. Findings revealed the presence of higher LVMI adjusted for age in children with INH vs normotensive children and experts found that LVMI adjusted for age was similar between children with INH vs children with isolated daytime HT.
