Is waist-to-height ratio the best predictive indicator of hypertension incidence? : A cohort study
BMC Public Health Mar 08, 2018
Rezende AC, et al. - In this observational prospective cohort study, including 13 years of follow-up, researchers assessed and compared the discriminatory power of waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) in relation to body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC) in predicting hypertension (HTN). Based on the findings, it was suggested that for the assessment of the risk of developing hypertension in this population, both overall obesity (BMI) and central obesity (WC and WHtR) anthropometric indicators can be used.
