Is tumor size really important for prediction of lymphatic dissemination in grade 1 endometrial carcinoma with superficial myometrial invasion?
International Journal of Gynecological Cancer Sep 07, 2017
Oz M, et al. – The incidence of lymph node (LN) metastasis in this particular group of patients with grade 1 tumors, superficial myometrial invasion (MMI), and a primary tumor diameter (PTD) greater than 2 cm is ascertained in this study. These outcomes propose that lymphadenectomy could be omitted in women with FIGO grade 1 endometrioid endometrial cancer (EEC) having superficial MMI regardless of PTD. Deferral of systematic lymph node dissection (LND) in this subgroup of patients may lead to reductions in costs and surgical morbidity.
