Is there an effect on the development of postdural puncture headache of dural punction made with the spinal needle in three different orientations during spinal anaesthesia applied to pregnant patients?
Journal of Pain Research Dec 04, 2019
Bıçak M, et al. - In this prospective-randomized study of 300 individuals aged 18–45 years who underwent cesarean section under spinal anesthesia, experts examined whether dural punction made with the spinal needle in three uniquely angled orientations had any impact on the development of postdural punction headache (PDPH) which a well-known and prevalent complication of spinal anesthesia. It was noted that 64%, 24% and 12% of people with PDPH developed within the first 24 hrs, between 24 and 48 hrs and 48–72 hrs, respectively. Therefore, it was recommended that when spinal anesthesia is implemented in the obstetric patient group, if the needle opening faces caudal, this method would decrease the number of PDPH.
